Following on from the discussions earlier this year we have now recieved a letter about the fate of the house numbering scheme for Barroway Drove.
The Council have decided we are indeed a Village and as such we need to have a name for the road. There are two options, The Drove and Main Road. There was some objection at the meetings to Main Road and it appears this has been listened to because the Councils preference is for The Drove. However, they have left the decision up to us and enclosed a form that can be posted back to the Council to make your vote.
For a bit of background the road actually needs a name and can't be the same as the Village name, it's something to do with the way the post address would work and if it wasn't made different we would actually become part of Stowbridge. I'll make no claim to the accuracy of that statement but that's the vague recolection of the conversation had with the Council at the public consultation.
Just out of interest I've created a poll on the forum to canvas opinion from our users. Nothing official but just to get a feel for peoples preference.
The poll is here - http://barrowaydrove.org/smf/index.php/topic,404.0.html
and for those of you not aware of the House Numbering Scheme please take a look a the documentation here - http://barrowaydrove.org/smf/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=album;id=4
You might notice an outage of the website in the next few days. We've almost exceeded our traffic allowance for the month of May and we're only half way through the month.
We don't normally have a problem, with about 50% of our usage spare but thanks to Microsofts bing.com robot scanning the site we've had 7.75 gigs worth of our bandwidth stolen in two days.
The hosting company have blocked them for us but it maybe too little too late because we have so little left of our allowance. So I'll appologise now if we disapear for a few days at the end of the month.

The first of the Community Police Support meetings will take place tomorrow at the Village Hall.
The meeting will run from 7pm until 7.30pm. It's an opportunity for you to discuss with our local Police anything that is of concern to you. Whether that is feedback, security concerns or just general suggestions they are here to listen.
It's not a very long session so time is going to be limited but there is a follow up meeting on the 12th May.
Okay so I might be overstating that just a little but I wanted to get your attention.
On the 18th March there was an incident involving the sub station at Hootens Row, it would seem a garden bonfire got a bit out of control and spread to the transform cabinet. The fire brigade were in attendance but the transformer was irreparably damaged as you can see from the photograph below.
Hats off to EDF energy for their fast response, the power went out at about 3:45pm and was restored via a portable generator a few minutes before 10pm that night. Presumably we are going to have to wait a while for a new transformer and they'll need another outage to commission it but give them credit where credit is due they did a good job under the circumstances.
If anyone wants to share any more information on the incident please let me know by clicking on the MSGFORM link above.

I've just had a report of an email coming from the website saying you are infected with a virus.
Firstly these are not from the site secondly do not click on any links.
If you get an email please let me know, I've asked for a copy of the email so I can investigate, but once again they are not from the website.
