Received an email from someone in Canada today.  She asks

Hello From Canada
I am in possession of a School Picture,circa,1890.Slate,held by one of the students reads "Barroway Drove".
Grandma,Margaret Jackson(b. 1882) and sister,Betsy(b. 1880) are the two little Munchkin's,front row,left.
The two girls stand out from the others,i.e: extremely short "bobs" and wearing what appears to be a Uniform.Flower Sack Like appearance.
Orphaned,in 1881,would they still have attended the Local School?
Is there a picture anywhere of the Local School in Barroway Drove?

Hi Luella,
How exciting to get a message from Canada!  And even more excitng to hear about the picture you have!  For the past 5 years we have been collecting old pictures of Barroway Drove and the surrounding area - so far we have held 3 displays in the local area.  Now that this website has been launched, the plan is to get as many of the pictures as possible on here (in the history section) so that everyone can see them.  We would love to include your picture as we believe it is older than anything else we have.  We will try to get the all the pictures and information relating to the school onto the website as soon as possible, in the meantime, if you (or anyone else) would like to know more about the village history please email vicki@barrowaydrove.org and we will try to answer your questions.
